New Year, New Me?

Hi

Hey there. I hope the past couple of months have been treating you well. It’s been a bit rocky for me, but I think I’m starting to turn a corner. We made it through January, and I can feel myself getting excited to venture back into the musical world.

Posters at The Vale

As some of you may know, I work with the Big City Folk Collective in providing social media output as well as design work. I’m excited to let you know that the posters I’ve been creating for the Song Club features are now on full display at The Vale Pub. If you find yourself in Hamilton Heights, you can see them any time hanging inside the bar; pictured here with Big City Folk’s founder Niall Connolly:

FAWM

It’s also the 20th Anniversary of FAWM (February Album Writing Month) and it is my 3rd year participating. The concept is simple: write 14 songs in 28 (29 this year) days. I’ve only ever managed to write 2, but I’m hoping to kick it up this time. I know it seems an impossible task, especially with work, kids, laundry, etc. But I did manage to get the first track done. You can hear “Sydney” here: FAWM - The Locksmiths

Live Music!

As the issues I’ve been dealing with the last few months are winding down, I’m feeling better about trying to book more meaningful shows. I currently have two that I’m very excited to tell you about.

Folk Adjacent Showcase Series presented by the Astoria Music Collective

Hosted by E. W. Harris at Alewife Brewing

The first is this Sunday, February 18th at Alewife Brewing. Astoria Music Collective presents the Folk Adjacent Series hosted by the enigmatic E. W. Harris. It’s from 2-6pm and features a “murderer’s row” of songwriters including: John Mervini, Jeannie Skelly, Warren Malone, Karen Dahlstrom, and Christian Rutledge. It’s a family friendly spot, so don’t be afraid to swing by.

The second is happening Sunday, March 17th at Penny Jo’s in Washington Heights. The wonderful Rachel Cholst (of Adobe & Teardrops and Rainbow Rodeo fame) has put together a live showcase promoting Queer Country artists and LGBTQ Music of which we are honored to be a part. The bill also includes Jackfruit, Cactus Rose, and Brian Falduto. It is certainly not to be missed!
